Abby, Sean, and Micah

Visiting the Alamo

One of the workshop groups
After being gone most of February it was nice to stay home during March! After having a very calm winter as far as weather we did get hit in March with a doozy of a blizzard! Micah and I were stuck in the house for a few days which ended up being a lot of fun! And, the snow did make everything look beautiful but I'm glad that spring will be coming soon.

I did want to share with you my last trip that I took in February which I didn't mention in the last newsletter. I took our son, Micah, to Houston to visit our daughter, Abby, and our son, Sean, came over from Baylor University to spend some time with us also. I had never been to Houston and we had a great time!

From there I went on to San Antonio to present my Build Your Six-Figure Organizing Business workshop to professional organizers in that area. I loved sharing my ideas with these special organizers and I San Antonio was awesome! Of course, I went and saw the Alamo and had lunch outside on the Riverwalk.

I've found out that I love speaking to people that want to change their life for the better. Whether it's growing their business, decluttering and simplifying their life, or getting rid of the baggage that is keeping them stuck – I am thrilled every time I get the opportunity to share. It's absolutely freeing to see attendee's faces open up with joy when they realize that a) how they spend the rest of their life is up to them, b) there is hope, and c) there are easy systems to achieve their dreams.

Are you ready to make changes now that will affect the rest of your life for the better? Please e-mail me and let's talk about bringing me in to speak to your organization.

     Get Dressed...Not Stressed!

This is an absolute perfect time of year for you to really, I mean really go through your bedroom closet. You can safely (I hope!) start putting winter clothing away and get your spring clothes front and center.

Statistics tell us that we wear 20% of what's in our closet. 20%!! That leaves a lot of clothes sitting there that are basically useless to us. But they are not useless to others. It's very important to go through your closets in the spring and then again in the fall and get rid of what you don’t wear and then give them to someone who will wear them.
  1. Take everything out. Yes, it makes a mess but then you can really get in and clean the closet.
  2. Try everything on. Most women hate to hear this but it's very true. To really get a good sense of what we like and what fits we have to try it on. Something that fit earlier in the year may not fit now or we may find that we just don't like it anymore.
  3. Have bags marked Throw, Donate/Garage Sale and Repairs. As you go through the clothes put them in the appropriate bag.
  4. Ask yourself the following questions:
    - Does it need to be altered?
    - Does it fit?
    - Is it still in style?
    - How long has it been since I've worn this?
    - How do I feel when I have it on? (The most important question as far as I'm concerned!)
    - Do I love it?
  5. After you've gone through EVERYTHING (don't forget belts, shoes, hosiery, and jewelry), you're going to put back what you've decided to keep. Go get some white hangers and put your clothes back by category: T-shirts, blouses, jackets, pants, and skirts. Then sort them in each category in the following order: Sleeveless to long-sleeved, light to dark, short skirts to long skirts. Use baskets for hosiery, lingerie, belts, small purses, etc. and then label each basket. Look - your closet looks beautiful!
  6. Now when you go in your closet to get dressed you may have a lot fewer items but they're going to be ones you know you like, they fit, and you feel good wearing them.
